UP Board 10th exam cancelled, 12th exam to be held in July – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The UP Education Board has cancelled the Class 10 exams in the state due to the Covid situation in the country.

The board has proposed to hold Class 12 board exams in second week of July if the Covid situation comes under control.

The duration for a Class 12 exam has been reduced to one and a half hours from the usual three hours and 15 minutes.

Now, only three questions will be asked in one paper.

Meanwhile, students of class 6,7,8, 9 and 11 will be promoted without any examination.

The UP Board exams for Class 10 and 12, scheduled to be conducted from May 8, were deferred in April due to the second wave of the coronavirus.

This year, nearly 56 lakh candidates have registered for Class 10 and 12 UP board exam.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have called off the 10th examination while exams for Class 12 have been postponed.

Along with boards, many competitive exams including NEET, JEE Main, UGC NET, UPSC Civil Services have also been put off.

The Union Ministry of Education on Monday had directed to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in May 2021 due to the steep rise in the Covid 19 cases. This decision will be applicable to all central higher educational institutions across the country.

However, the online examination may continue.
