Below 1-lakh mark: India reports 86,498 new daily Covid-19 infections, lowest in 66 days | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday reported a daily rise in new coronavirus infections of 86,498 cases over the past 24 hours, the lowest in 66 days, according to the government. With this, the country reported less than 1 lakh daily new Covid-19 cases for the first time in the last 63 days.

However, the number of deaths remained above the 2000-mark. The country reported 2123 deaths in last 24 hours, according to the data by the heath ministry.

The active caseload declined by 97,907, and it currently stands at 13,03,702, said the Union health ministry.
Meanwhile, 1,82,282 patients have recovered during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries so far to 2,73,41,462 across the country.
Also, recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 26th consecutive day. The recovery rate has increased to 94.29%.
As per government data, the weekly positivity rate is currently at 5.94%, while the daily positivity rate is at 4.62%, less than 10% for 15 consecutive days.
Meanwhile, testing capacity has also substantially ramped up to 36.8 crore tests total conducted.

On the other hand, 23.61 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive.
